MEDITATION: 7 TIPS TO GET YOU STARTED

Are you interested in creating a daily meditation practice? Here are 7 tips to get you started!
✻ Find a time in your schedule that you can offer up 10-15 minutes daily for self-care ✻
Sticking to a regular time each day will allow you to seamlessly integrate this new habit to your daily routine. I love meditating in the morning time while I enjoy a cup of tea or right before lunch.
✻ Create a quiet sacred space ✻
It feels like a mini-retreat when I meditate in the same space everyday and physiologically this will allow you to settle in much easier too.
✻ Sit on the floor with a pillow or cushion ✻
You will feel more grounded and centered in your practice doing this, and the pillow adds an extra element of comfort by supporting your hips.
✻ Sit up straight with spine erect ✻
Our central channel or hara line runs along our spinal column and sitting up will allow for a better flow of prana / chi / life force energy. This will prevent you from dozing off too.
✻ Keep your palms facing up ✻
When our palms face up our ribcage is able to expand more, thereby increasing the levels of oxygen circulating throughout our body, which is a great thing!
✻ Quiet your mind ✻
Release all thoughts by bringing your awareness inside of your body and dropping into your heart space. Follow the sound of your breath, in and out. If a thought arises, gently find your breath again. Enjoy the peace and quiet. The goal overtime is to increase the gaps of silence between each thought.
✻ Set intentions for your day ✻
I like to wrap my practice by setting a few intentions, perhaps to stay aligned with my highest timeline or to experience the frequency of Joy. You decide! It’s your life to create.
